Where to make comments or ask questions

Contents

It is quite likely that most users will have one or two questions at some stage during their time on this site, be it through browsing or contributing. There will be many questions directed towards individuals, army records and other specific areas of interest. If you have questions concerning different aspects of this site such as where information was obtained, where to look, validity, views and opinions, structure, help or problems with the site etc., then please direct them towards the appropriate places. The sections below give a brief outline of direction.

Historic or factual questions

Please be aware that the Border Regiment Wiki does not offer a reference desk as a platform for asking questions about individuals or their army records. For this you will need to contact organisations such as the National Archives or Ancestry as they contain the relavant information, usually at a cost.

Relevant information about other aspects such as battalion histories etc., should be directed to the Historic or Factual Questions section. Or, if the information you are asking about is located in an article, you can also use the article's talk page instead, see below.

Questions or comments about specific articles

If you have any questions relating to, or would like to make constructive comments about specific articles or content within an article, then please do so by clicking on the discussion tab at the top of the article page. Each article has its own talk page designed for you to ask questions or make comments relating to the article/s you are viewing.

  • Be clear and concise when asking your question/s as this makes it easier for others to read.
  • Also, be aware that these pages are not to be used as a forum.
  • Comments should be limited to the content of the article only.

Help questions

If you have any help questions or comments relating to uncertainties or problems you may be experiencing then please look through the Main Help area first. For newcomers there is a Quick Guide Tutorial to show you the basics and get you started as quickly as possible; for more experienced wiki users the main help section contains further details relating to the standard help topics. If your questions are not answered in these areas please direct them to the Site-help Questions section.

Ideas/Requests

If you have any ideas or requests please direct them to the Ideas/Requests section where they will be considered and replied to by Admin. Whatever you have to say, we are keen to listen! However, no guarantees can be made that your ideas or requests will be acted upon.

Overlooked questions

It is possible that some questions may get overlooked so please accept our apologies and try again if you have not heard anything within 72 hours. Alternatively, leave a message on the Site Adminitrator's Talk Page with details pointing to the location of question.
