Here you will find a comprehensive, alphabetised list of abbreviations and acronyms used throughout the First and Second World Wars and through to present day. Some relate to, for instance, India, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, whilst others have a strong focus on the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force; in any of these instances such abbreviations will be made clear with (brackets). Also, some 'meanings' will be repeated several times due to the different abbreviations and acronyms for particular words, such as Battalion, which is also known as BN, BTN and BTTN.
